It’s perhaps not surprising how little traction this little tidbit of news is attracting, it’s as if the usual noise, ya know, the anti trans noise is sheepishly avoiding the recognition of it’s intent.

      > A spokesperson for the prime minister, Keir Starmer, said: “We will always support single-sex spaces based on biological sex. Everyone deserves dignity and respect throughout society. But we’ve been very clear that we respect the outcome of the supreme court judgment and the clarity to the definition of women.”

Where is the dignity and respect when exclusions apply for a group of people in society?

That’s what the point of what the government have been doing trying to remove transgender people from society, even if it breaks their human rights, maybe if they were migrants there human rights would be respected in the same way.

English trans people are treated worse than the boat people whose human rights are respected and upheld in court.

Unlike trans people who are not even allowed to be part of the discussion about There removal from public life.

This is why the government is on a genocide watch for it’s actions against this 0.5% of the population it’s trying to destroy for a trade deal with trump.

I find it kinda hard to believe that’s not the entire point, the people who keep bringing court cases certainly want it to be the case

Yeah no shit, that’s the whole idea. They want us tucked out the way and meek and quiet and dead.

Which means it is now impossible for women to be assaulted in toilets and changing rooms! Right?

This has done nothing to address any actual safety concerns, no matter how legitimate they are or are not. It has just succeeded in vilifying a small subgroup of the population who just want to live in peace. Trans people did not ask to be in the public eye like they are now, they want to blend in without issue. This has only come about because of a combination of the media wanting a scapegoat and because TERFs hate anyone who does not meet their definition of what a woman should be.

This was always the plan, and TERFS can deny it all they want

This is the ultimate goal of TERFs though. They don’t just want to “protect women’s spaces”

They want to eradicate any concept of trans identity / rights through complete marginalisation and pushing people out of sight.

I thought Labour were meant to be a left wing party, yet they constantly say and do things you’d expect from the Tories or Reform.

    10. Our society has decided that it is appropriate to have exclusions to equality/discrimination to protect privacy, safety or equal opportunity for women born female depending on the ‘space’.

Trans women and their supporters feel that there should not be single sex spaces. Either there shouldn’t be any right to them or its a less important right.

Im not sure its very consistent to claim there should be single gender spaces if you dont agree to discriminatory spaces at all. There is consistent case for saying there should be no discrimination- unisex stalls for all. Though this isnt a feasible solution to some other spaces.

It does seem that the ruling by the supreme court clarifyong that allowable dosciminatiom is sex based has rather set up an unresolved difficulty.

I won’t pee in public unless there is a disabled toilet available. As a trans woman, it’s just not safe for me to do anything else.

The government is attempting to mandate how you must style your appearance in order to be considered a woman. That is ultimately the effect this is going to have. Even if you’re evil enough not to care about trans rights, this is a flagrant violation of women’s rights. The government and the TERFs supporting them are essentially making it so that if you are a female presenting individual who does not have long hair, a big chest, and wears dresses, ie, the stereotypical “woman” look, your entire identity will be under scrutiny. If you’re a cis woman who happens to be a butch lesbian? You’ll be accused of being a man and required to prove otherwise. Are a cis woman who just prefers wearing pants rather than skirts? Prove you’re actually a woman. You have a naturally flat chest? Show us your birth certificate or get shoved into the men’s.

Even if you do not give a shit about trans people, do you really want to live in a world where we all have to show our fucking birth certificates to prove whether or not we should be treated like a human being?

Everybody is going mental about the digital ID’s and freaking out and calling it government overreach and control, but nobody seems to think demanding to see a person’s birth certificate just because a cop doesn’t think they look “woman” enough by his standards is a disgusting overreach and violation of civil liberties?

Is this the Guardian backtracking on trans issues? Or will they go back to amplifying TERF talking points soon?
