In questo giorno, 41 anni fa, il tentativo di colpo di stato del generale Nicole Militaru contro il dittatore Nicolae Ceaușescu fallì quando i soldati che avrebbero dovuto attuare il piano andarono a raccogliere il mais

Damn why do Romanian officials always look like they are straight out of a vampire movie
His name was Nick Military?
He even has that “WTF?!” face.
Sorry boss, can’t coup today, it’s corn season
Perfect picture choice tbh.
Nice try, but most likely it would have been just as bad, if not worse afterwards. Because the coup was basically plotted by Securitate (Romanian equivalent of Stasi, state’s secret police, and just as brutal) and he was suspected of being a russian agent.
He was appointed defence minister immediately after Ceausescu was shot in December 1989. “As minister, Militaru recalled to active duty some thirty officers, most of whom had received active training in the Soviet Union. Other officers became increasingly uneasy and a pro-reform group, Comitetul de Acțiune pentru Democratizarea Armatei (CADA, Action Committee for the Democratization of the Army) emerged on 12 February 1990. The following day over a thousand soldiers and officers assembled in Bucharest”

Edit: yeah, after reading more about him, I am now convinced he was moskow’s man in Bucharest. The guy basically managed to use the revolution opportunity and to finish the coup he wanted to do a few years earlier, by using his new position of power (defence minister on the revolutionary side) to eliminate the closest ones to Ceausescu, and to propell Ion Iliescu (former acolyte of Ceausescu and member of the communist party) as the new leader of the revolutionaries.

Apparently he even asked Gorbatschow to intervene in Romania, but Gorbatschow refused (I’m still looking for a more trustwothy source for this information).
Edit 2: another source I found about the above statement:

Striking resemblance with Jordan Peterson on this picture.
Nosferatu tried what?
Its almost harvesting season!
Anyone? ;D
General Nick War-man is the most on the nose thing I’ve heard in a while 😂
Played by Vincent Price undergoing heroin withdrawal.
It was me, General Military !
Peter Jordanson looks terrible nowadays.
