Walking the trails of the Meotyda park in Ukraine south, you could encounter many of its protected species. With its network of river mouths, bays, and lagoons, this nature reserve became a sanctuary for more than 250 bird species.

Today, the one-of-a-kind national park is fully occupied by Russia and lies in a dire state.

Before the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine’s team captured the park’s extraordinary beauty — and we now share its richness preserved in our archive footage.
