      This is deeply disturbing.

The fact that predators are contacting children online and coercing them into abuse or self‑harm highlights how vulnerable young people are in digital spaces, and how malicious actors are exploiting that vulnerability.

We really need an EU wide hard crack down on social media. Twitter is a complete cess pool and TikTok is basically a honeypot. They should be completely banned. All other apps should be required to provide a separate service for children, teens and adults with appropriate restrictions and enforcement in each. Harsh penalties need to be levied too.

Parents need help with this at a state/EU level. Plenty of devices have decent parental controls but they are not foolproof, often conflicting and generally confusing. We need a standard controlling access to chat, messages and multiplayer that all apps must adhere to.

An example is disabling messaging on a WiFi only iPhone. It could be completely locked down disallowing any friending, chats or multiplayer but then you open a game that has in-game chat which bypasses these controls entirely. Plenty of parents are not suitably technically literate to identify these risks and loopholes.

Any chance of chemical castrations for these scumbags?

It’s an incredible mess when you look at it. There needs to be much more robust public education about the risks. I think a lot of people across the spectrum of ages are very vulnerable online, and also often very naive about the risks, particularly of sharing images.

The days of over sharing online need to end.

There’s a whole online cult dedicated to stuff like this, 764 network. Which itself is an offshoot of the neo-nazi satanic cult Order of Nine Angles.
