Even if Ukraine got all of their land back, so many people have been kidnapped, murdered, and traumatized, and so much of their infrastructure has been destroyed that this horrific war will be memorialized in the psyche of Ukrainians for generations. How is that a win? This is a tragedy for them no matter what happens moving forward.
For Russia it’s a different story. They’ve stolen so much. Stopping here would be a massive victory for them, because as a country they seem to have absolutely no regard for anyone’s lives, not even their own citizens.
Fourth graders have a deeper understanding of this conflict.
