For clarity the council’s issue isn’t that it’s the flags.
The council have told the owner to apply for planning permission for all the external images or remove them. Same as your local tesco needs planning permission to have signage.

New council members must not have anything better to do since *”It is understood the images triggered the complaint that it was a ‘racial slur’.”*
They’ve had the *”two other signs below the images reported to the council, which show a hungry customer and shark sharing a giant baguette, have been there for four years with no issue.”*
It’s been up for four years, why is it now a problem for the pearl clutchers from the easily offended who think the union jack is being displayed for the purpose of “keep migrunts out of are cuntry?”
If I’m honest, the bloke deepthroating a sandwich is more disturbing than the flags.

I think the fact that the artwork packed planning permission is the more likely of these scenarios.
Looks like the real story is they were told they didn’t have planning permission when a council busybody eventually noticed the “illegal” signage – I’m not defending the bureaucracy of planning regulations, but councils are legally obligated to follow them, a Reform controlled council recently embarrassed themselves by being forced to remove flags by the letter of the law – and they smelled ££££ from going to the tabloids with compo face because there’s a flag there. They’ve literally been explicitly told they’re perfectly fine to stay if they apply for retroactive permission.
We have been seeing Palestine flags for months now, is anyone surprised to see the English flag and the Union Jack. If you visit France, guess what you see the tricolour, if you visit England you see ———- you can fill in the blank.
This is how disinformation and hatred is spread because people dont read and the media know what there doing.
Its nothing to do with the Union Jack. Its the fact they didnt have planning permission

Just apply for planning permission. It’s not hard.
I live in York, which is having its own problem with flag shaggers putting them up on every lamp post. I don’t like them because the meaning behind it and the people behind it are bad (you only have to go into their socials and see what they’re saying to confirm) not because the flag is bad.
If you want to put it on your own business or house, done nicely, to me that’s good, that’s pride. Let them do it, who the fuck cares? We have bigger problems.

I can’t believe we’re in a society that is arguing about the difference between patriotism and racism. it’s our flag ffs, not like it’s a confederate flag. this is dumb.
Someone probably complained thinking that someone vandalised the wall . Not realising that the sandwich owner owned the boarded up windows council worker contacted the sandwich shop owner confirmed that the artwork was theirs and the windows were owned by them council then closed the complaint.
