Call all you like, those in charge turn a blind eye to the animal abuse that goes with sulky racing

Won’t mean a thing unless it’s actively enforced.

They’re already illegal on motorways and that seems to have made fuck all difference.

The good thing about where i live is that there’s a road up from my home thats about 5km straight of a line with noone living from one end to the either.

You put a man and a car across both sides of that road and its effectively shut down. Then you can race. The only worry you might have is a badger or something running across the road ans spooking the horses.

This thing of bringing horses out on live roads.. I know we can’t threaten people with violence but jaysus a couple of slaps here and there works wonders.

I grew up in an estate where sulky racing is normal and the horses are very well taken care of. Some people have taken to turning their backgardens into stables.

Keep it out of the towns, off the main roads and have some fucking pride in what ye are doing.

I got very off point. I dont see a ban on sulky racing doing anything to them. It only hurts the kids who would otherwise have nothing to do

I can’t even look at a photo of this barbarity. Maybe public opinion might induce some well known beneficiary of the country’s lavish support for the bloodstock industry/ horse racing crowd to denounce this practice as unacceptable in any civilised society. (Who the young jockey in the press recently, a lad called Owen I think)

Not that the above board horse-based sports fraternity is free from sin. It’s all equine abuse in my book, just less red in tooth and fist than the other lot’s idea of a good time .
(Even major pharmaceuticals firms here are at it, if indirectly.
Don’t a lot of lucrative female hormonal medications involve the urine of pregnant mares? Maybe they’ve managed to synthesise the ingredient by now. Hope so, because the conditions the mares endured from back to back pregnancies and the loss of their foals were barbaric, and all so a woman might remain perkier than her age might allow. )

      here endeth the rant
