The talks for purchasing SU-35s(and MiG-35s) are going since April 2020. With also various SAM systems
Putin most probably offered them again as a “sorry” package for downed airplane. Yet it still unknown if the deal will get a greenlight by our government, after the purchase of 40(up from 16) JF-17, it will bring total combat aircraft park close to 80. Which is quite a lot for a small country as us.
One phone call to the Pentagon and Azerbaijan could probably give Putin a coronary at this point.
