The lack of separation of religion and state is a plague regardless of which religion and which state.

Just a heads up, both the Stockholm Center for Freedom org, and its source for this article, the “Karar” news page belongs to Fethullah Gülen’s pyramid scheme.
Who is Fethullah Gülen? A middle school educated Islamic cleric who got a giant pyramid scheme organization which hides in Turkey as a shadow state. They have men in police, law, intelligence, military and tried a coup in 2015 in Turkey.
Around 2010’s they started a smearing campaign named “Ergenekon trials” against secular military generals, and after indicting them, tried to replace their men in their place.
They got their first investment from their believers, getting from a percent of their salary, and silently appointing their own men in state institutions.
Now they have branches in Turkic states, Europe, US via private schools, universities, hospitals, etc.
Fethullah Gülen’s wiki page doesn’t contain much in English, but Necip Hablemitoğlu, Soner Yalçın, and many more very respectable journalists unceovered their secrets. Necip Hablemitoğlu was assassinated by unknown men in 2002. Maybe Fethullah’s men did this.
