      >People need to be unequivocal about how beneficial membership of the European Union has been to this country

If someone can lay out a decent case for Connolly being equivocal about how beneficial EU membership has been to this country, they will sway my vote against her.

But so far at least I haven’t seen comments from her to suggest that.

Martin, I criticise your stance of picking a GAA manager and shite landlord to rep your party in the election over any politician you have in your party.

      Ya dumbass

    3. Sea_Temperature5927 on

Micheál, I say this with great sincerity. Eat a bag of dicks.

The Israeli sympathizer says what?  Why is that disgusting bastard leading FF.  FF should be ashamed of themselves.

    5. Due-Communication724 on

Keep going Micheal and Co., keep going, as Ronan Keating once put it ‘You say it best, when you say nothing at all’

Did he have anything to say about today’s opinion polls which show that Irish people can see through his bluster and bullshit? Any word from him about Fianna Fail and his own *un-popularity* numbers, which show the Irish electorate clearly see the *absolute failure* of his “Project Gavin”, and how *useless & impotent* he’s made FF?

    7. soundengineerguy on

Martin would want to keep his head down given how his own party handled this election. Jesus he is a gobshite.

Feck off MeHole, u made a pigs mickey of it with Gavin

I really hope Ireland does not vote for Catherine Connolly to be our next President. She’s anti-EU, she’s like best mates with Putins stooges Wallace and Daly, she appeared to support Assad, she employed a would be terrorist, it took her a day to make up her mind on employing a rapist, she seems to object to European countries having military equipment to defend themselves.

I dunno what was said but if Martin is saying it I disagree.

We need to be wary of people who claim to be republicans but are against the ideals that led to the establishment of the state. And of the political parties that these liars belong to.

    12. Low-Complaint771 on

I think most people like the idea that the President is a bit of an antagonist of the International order.. Gaza has horrified the people on this island, and there’s a gutteral need for us to have a representative that embodies this.. The President doesn’t run the economy, which allows a vote of conscience in this respect much easier in the presidential election, than is the case for other political representatives.

I think this kind of rhetoric from Martin, further strengthens the idea with the electorate that Connolly is the right person for the job in the current international climate.

Does Micheál Martin condemn the Irish people for being anti-EU because they voted against the Nice and Lisbon treaties?

    14. MushuFromSpace on

Mícheál Martin having the gall to criticise anybody is fucking hilarious.

      The prick.

    15. Chance-Plantain8314 on

Martin is upset because he only knows how to gobble whatever masticated birdfood the EU leadership let’s fall his way.

Personally, leadership that questions the decisions of the powers that be is preferable to me than bowing down to the idea of your children dying for the profits of arms manufacturers.

The state of the comments in this thread. In particular of the Mehole comments.
      It’s not different to Facebook

Electorate will be critical of him & his fellow FFG cronies in 5 days…

    18. raybone12 on

If/when Connolly becomes president, can she block/stop legislation that has been passed in the Dail from becoming law? If she can, what happens then?

    19. No-Outside6067 on

The EU came here in 2010 and enforced far reaching austerity measures that lead to a lost half decade and terrible suffering for a large part of the population.

You can like the EU for how membership benefited us while still being critical of them. It’s not a dictatorship

    20. Haleakala1998 on

MM seems to think that you can wither 100% agree with the EU or 100% disagree, as if its an all or nothing thing. The EU has many significant faults, I think nearly everyone agrees with that. Most would also agree we have benefitted massivley from membership, and we should continue membership while fighting for reform. These are compatible views to hold

Isn’t the Taoiseach commenting on the presidential race low key unconstitutional?!

    22. Artistic-Insect-8669 on

I disagree with your environmental, migration, housing, business policies

And your coalition running this country

But fortunately we are in a democratic system and if CC gets in you don’t get a say you out of touch fool Martin

    23. uiuuauiua on

If anyone sees this as anything but Michael Martin trying to get an EU job, they’re slow.

The EU are not above criticism. Neither are the US. This is spiritually Israeli and wildly disturbing to see. They’re equating criticism to being anti, like Israel try to spin antisemitism.

What world are these dopes living in? It shows where they concern really is. They are failures on all fronts.

    24. DeathDefyingCrab on

Why aren’t we allowed to critise the EU? I mean sure, we have absolutely benefited from it. I remember during the Celtic Tiger all the infrastructure road had those sign posts that indicated funding came from the EU. At the same time we should be allowed to be critical aswell.

    25. EdWoodwardsPA on

The OP posting this is actually constantly posting about Catherine Connolly. Fucking weird.
