Il risultato più significativo finora è l’archiviazione di quasi 11.000 volontari ciprioti con ampie informazioni riguardanti dati personali, demografici e clinici.

Who gave a damn about DNA?
All national identities were imposed and shaped based on existing sociocultural characteristics according to certain criteria which existed to a distinct degree and found fertile ground on which to build it. To build it, not to have it imposed on them
The point is that you belong culturally, not racially.
Unless you have Hitler’s mindset.
Like the Romans who moved to the East and assimilated into the Hellenistic environment that was formed there.
Why are these discussions still taking place in 2025?
Cyprus has been invaded by literally everyone with a boat. Of course our DNA looks like a buffet.
Ethnicity isn’t based on dna
There isn’t enough data to make these claims. We don’t even know all BA Greek Y-DNA lines.
Apart from that the phrase ‘Greek descent’ doesn’t have the meaning he thinks it has.
They should use labels like ‘Bronze Age Greek’ and don’t pretend data show something they do not.

What is true for Cyprus is true for just about every other place. Prehistoric people have existed in most parts of the world long before ethnic groups appeared and migrations and mixing populations happened several times over.
The article tells us that we had prehistoric people in Cyprus since 12,000 years ago. No shit Einstein! On mainland Greece they had prehistoric people since 40,000 years ago, were those people “Greek”? Or maybe on mainland Greece and every other Greek island the Greeks committed a genocide against the pre-existing populations in order to replace them completely, and then never mixed with anybody else ever since, and it is only in Cyprus that such thing didn’t happen?
Ethnicity is about the spread of language and culture. Cyprus has been Greek (Hellenic) from the very beginning when the Greeks formed an ethnicity. Before that there were Greek speaking groups but they did not have an ethnic identity.
It is funny when Turks try to doubt the Greekness of Cyprus. How many countries in Europe can you find where their current ethnic group has over 3000 years of history in that same place?
Not to mention that the Turks themselves are at most only 20% Turkic genetically, and yet they call themselves as “Turks” and the whole Anatolia as “Turkey” (or whatever they call it now).
If we are not Greek, Turks don’t even exist.
