It’s all a load of nonsense. MTV fans are banned because of the sort of behaviour they demonstrated last night. That Starmer and now Miliband have waded in to chat shit only makes my city look like the problem when not a single actual Brummie has said anything.
Disgusting that thanks to the weak government, we are labelled as the aggressor and they are not coming for safety reasons! We take decisive action to ban thugs and we are sold out by our own government going to bat for them…and then they decide they won’t come anyway!
The Government spokesperson just said that the UK Gov is ‘deeply saddened’ that Maccabi won’t be coming. Also said that the PM and Ministers had been ‘working around the clock’ to let them attend.
Jeeeez how tone death can they be? I wish they were working around the clock to serve the British people instead of racist foreign hooligans.

I think loss would have been if this policing decision was overturned and the inevitable violent clashes between Israeli fans who chant “death to Arabs” and people from an area with a large Muslim community. That could get incredibly messy

Will there be any reflection on this bizarre tale from the politicians or journalists who seemed to lose their minds over this? The only person I’ve seen is the Hope Not Hate guy who realised after the riots in Tel Aviv last night that maybe it wasn’t a great idea to invite them over. Everyone else just seemed to double down. It’s like they’re on another planet to the rest of us.
TBH I think as national identity is a protected charectaristic under ECHR’s article 8; flat out banning all fans from a certain country feels like a violation and the start of a slippery slope. as an example, if we saw enough cases of assault on public transport of people from country X, should we ban anyone from that country from public transport? etc.
Go play in the Asia League instead, where your country is actually located. Problem solved
