Is that due to military spending and upping the nato budget? Or a normal occurence

i mean, this would be okay, if our meaningful growth rate would balance it out…

It’s about time Europe learns some fiscal responsability from the PIGS.

Man, romania always has to be either first or last in every european stat. Never in between. Oh wait, I think at least in corruption we are beaten by hungary.

In Croatia the local government went from an expected surplus of 500m euros to a deficit od 300m, so now every ministry under the sun is getting axed. We will even be under 2% GDP for defence spending for 2025.

Very responsible of Portugal but it’s time the government invest some of the money in improving public services.
The National health service is in shambles right now with pregnant women having to travel sometimes 100km to be seen.

Didn’t Denmark just made the pension age to 70 years?

That’s okay. Governments *should* be in slight deficit. Chasing balanced books is why USA overtook us after 2008 crisis.

This is fine, healthy and same as parley with pirates, the 3% deficit in the EU founding treaty is more of a guideline even if we all agreed to it. /s
Finland has the highest unemployment in the EU after Spain and we are running in to debt with historical speed. Yet, we are still net contributors to EU. We are literally taking on debt so we can pay the EU – makes sense.

It should be noted a ~3% deficit is something you can actually play with and manage. It’s not something as crazy as you would believe. 10% tho is a big oof

How is Danmark doing so well, despite being such a small and social country? Like why is there this big of a difference between The Netherlands and Denmark despite having many similarities?
What brings in so much money into Denmark? Do they have oil or gas that I don’t know of?

And of course, the poorest and corrupt country in the Europe, Romania in last place.

Denmark having a 4% surplus is insane. I’m sure they have problems there? Why not use that money to invest in solutions?

what’s the significance of deficit (or debt) with respect to GDP? shouldn’t it be measured against the budget? sure, budget and GDP do corelate, but that depends on policy and politics of each country, so it’s not very comparable across countries

Damn what’s happening in Romania I thought it couldn’t get worse than us
