The incident happened this morning just hours before the EU parliament passed a resolution condemning Vucic and his government that also mentions the existence of the camp, informally known as Caciland, as a problem. The perpetrator, who set tents on fire and wounded one person, is a 70-year-old former employee of the state security service. Vucic immediately called the attack a terrorist act and claimed that the attacker was a “blocker”(a term the regime uses to describe students in blockade) despite his age bracket and occupation being the least likely to support the students.

A Pro-Vucic tent city has been a no-go zone for ordinary citizens of Belgrade since March 6th. It not only blocks the street in front of the parliament, but also encompasses the public park between it and the presidency. It is guarded 24/7 by police & armed thugs and protected by a double fence covered in grease. Officially, the camp is set up by a group of “the students who want to study” to whom the victim of today’s shooting, a 57-year-old man, is supposed to belong.
