Been a lot of emphasis on ceasefires lately, but it’s been said since the beginning that “freezing the conflict” plays into Russia’s hands.
Putin can just sit on his gains indefinitely, neither advancing nor giving anything up, until people get sick of the whole thing and just let him have the land.

Does the US even buy any oil from Russia to begin with?

I believe it when it comes to an action. Otherwise it is just another bullshit.

Essentially toothless. All the effected companies need do is to reduce Russian ownership to 49.9% and they don’t trigger the sanctions.
Performative, not substantial.

Ukrainians are doing better job sanctioning their oil refineries

Finally Trump is sanctioning a country that isn’t supposed to be America’s friend. That’s a nice change, hopefully it lasts but it probably won’t.

I prefer the Ukrainian sanctions of flying drones into their refineries

You sure he didn’t mean tariffs? I can’t remember him actually using sanctions before. And if I remember correctly, those companies already have been sanctioned, by the Biden administration, unless he removed them just to put them back in and look like a big boy.
But i could very well be wrong

If anyone actually believes this is sufficient to stop Putin from invading Ukraine, they’re dumb enough to be a Trump voter

And when someone makes it painful to russians, what do we say? – not enough!

Bah just part of his totally transparent “negotiating strategy”, he will give it up next time Putin calls.

Is it really necessary to list out each refinery to be sanctioned? Why can’t we just stick to Russian oil or distilled products?

Does that mean today’s coin flip on who Trump supports landed on Ukraine’s side?
