Despite of this Italy still hold around 58,5 Millions People but yeah it is concerning from an Economic and industrial perspective.Even Mrs Melloni dropped her anti immigration policy and is actually welcoming African and a bit of middle eastern immigrants, not declared openly tho’.

The only Countries that Benefits from a previous generous birth rate and a growing population are The UK, France and Ireland.

Both The UK and France have around 70 Millions People and their population is increasing at a pretty decent pace and in some cases faster than previously expected. They are both poised to overtake Germany by the 2040’s.

Germany has been Stable and in only starting to decrease since 2020.

Spain also has known a decrease, but stabilze since 2 years.

With today’s economy young people can barely afford living expenses…

By design. Women does not want to raise children when they have to work all day, be afraid of crime and other multicultural benefits.

Since AI is now replacing human workers like there is no tomorrow and the cost of living is skyrocketing, there is no need to give birth to new humans, they will be living in poverty. This is unfair and narcissistic to want to have kids these days as there is no future for the said kids.

That is the biggest problem of Europe.

We need workers – if we don’t have any, the economy goes down and we need new migrant workers –> people want having then less children —> Repeat

It’s a non stop catastrophic cycle, and I don’t know how to end it.

For sure Meloni will solve it… with more inmigration may be?

Because solving average italian problems won’t benefit her true friends.

    7. -Blame Netflix.
      -Blame pesticides.
      -Blame the economy.
      -Blame the millenials.
Pick one or more according to your beliefs

    8. Remember when Salvini said “this government will be remembered not by public debt, but by the number of babies born”.

    9. Just a few examples here and there with my take on this subject, as a middle-aged Italian woman, having lived (and had a baby) abroad and now back again in the country with a toddler.

In Italy less than 1/3 of the kids can go to daycare, as there aren’t enough spots and schools. You have to rely on grandparents or have to afford an often ill-qualified babysitter. Or choose if it’s more convenient to stay at home than paying so much for childcare (since wages are quite low compared to other countries).

Even before getting to that, there are not enough anaesthesiologists to cover all the shifts to provide epidurals during delivery, which means that less than 1/4 of the deliveries are performed with epidural anaesthesia (compared with >80% of France, Luxembourg, etc). Moreover, I’ve never heard any of my friends here in Italy being provided support for their pelvic floor rehabilitation after delivery, which is common in other countries. No wonder so many women here are “one and done”, or childfree, after having heard or lived so many horror stories.

So it’s easy to blame women, or society, or economy, when even the basic stuff isn’t there to support childbirth and early childhood anyway. But please, keep funding mafia with dreams of a Strait of Messina bridge, I’m sure that will fix things.
