    1. Its a bit of a stretch to call our current government “left-wing”. They have made significant cutbacks on most welfare, including education and social programs, and especially in regard to immigrants and refugees. They have repeatedly tried to introduce sweeping surveillance legislation while excluding ministers and departments from oversight and accountability.

Interesting contrast between Sweden and Denmark. I think here in Norway, it is like watching two very opposite ways of going about this.

At the moment, for me, the Danish approach seems perhaps the wiser one, while it is clear that Sweden has been more idealistic. That being said, in light of how the demography is, the Swedish approach might come good in the end.

It should have never been a left or right wing position to take in any large amount of non Europeans for long term settlement under any pretext. All it has done is hurt Europeans and empowered the far right, leaving consequences which will take decades to solve if not a century, and that’s if we don’t see the horrors of the far right coming to power.

Denmark? Left wing? If you are anti-immifrant, you are not left wing. Left-wing don’t believe in nation states goddamnit. And Denmark has not been left wing for ages, like the rest of us in the Nordic countries, we have soc dems that have gone neo-liberal

The Denmark model could be used EU wide to good effect. People who really need the help are still getting it. People playing the system are no longer able to do so.
