Well, glad to hear rape is still considered a crime in the US. For some anyways.

      >Prosecutors pointed out that when Crosbie was initially questioned by police, he asked if the complainant had asked if someone had “pinned her down” in the bed without having any previous knowledge of the details of her allegation. He also asked police if his DNA could have got on the complainant due to his masturbating in the bed the previous morning – the prosecution noted that Crosbie had not yet arrived in Boston the morning before the assault.

      Not a criminal mastermind.

I followed this case closely and I find it a very challenging verdict. The first jury deliberated for 22hrs and the current jury must have been close to 15hrs, which shows it was not an easy verdict. There was certainly reasonable doubt – lack of DNA, the accuser not being able to identify Crosbie and so on. I know he has a questionable social media history and that certainly doesn’t help but this was not a cut and dry case. The appeal will be interesting.

His attempt to flee the United States and ending up being arrested on the plane was a really foolish thing to do as he would likely have been extradicted anyway. He doesn’t appear to be particularly bright. I’m not surprised at the verdict really.

Irish people in Boston at it again. Where’s Bernadette Devlin when you need her?

They need to tighten their borders, instead of taking in more of these.

Just by reading the article alone it’s strange that this wasn’t a mistrial

It’s pretty clear he did it due to the inconsistencies in his story but the lack of evidence and vague testimony from the victim makes it surprising that he was actually found guilty

What time is the riot? I’d hate to miss it

Wasn’t this the guy who had questionable posts on his social media?

I believe the jury made the correct decision.

      1. Although the DNA profile of the second male was inconclusive, there was still a second DNA profile there.

      2. He tried to leave America early, I understnd that he would have been immensely stressed, but if you didn’t do what he is accused of, why else would he flee the country?

      3. What reason would the lady have for making this up???

      4. The lady left the hotel in the middle of the night, texted a friend and then immediately went to the hospital to report she had been raped. It’s not like she waited a few days or months, she reported it immediately.

      5. He had many inconsistencies in his story – she had none since the beginning of this awful situation.

      6. I just cannot believe he has a wife and kids and did this. Bear in mind he was on a work related trip with the Dublin Fire Brigade .
