I imagine Martin will cut a deal to step down when his term as Taoiseach ends in ‘27

MM announced he wouldn’t be attending Dublin Castle for CCs declaration as President.
He’d have been the first taoiseach not to do so. He did a quick UTurn.
He was im Cork so I imagine that was going g to be his excuse. I wonder who gave him the kick up his hole to cop on and go

The party TD’s and members are angry over the bad decision making and power structure that lead to the bad decisions. The problem is that everything about the presidential election for FF has been a complete fuck up. It is not like it was a surprise election for anything. The stench of failure is everywhere in the FF camp and not long after they became the largest party again.
I suspect there was a large degree of infighting in the party coming up to the presidential election and now it has gotten worse, as Martin has proven himself incompetent. But they are not going push him now, if the review doesn’t deliver changes that others in the party then the problems will get worse and Martin will find himself in a lot of trouble.
Martin pissed off lots in the party as it’s become centralised.
Who are the potential successors to Martin? Chambers was the dauphin but is entirely aligned with Martin and, I think, has not many friends within the FF parliamentary party. Is Jim O’Callaghan the anti-Martin alternative to Chambers? Dublin TD John Lahart was on Newstalk today putting the knife in Martin. Lahart is identified as an ally of O’Callaghan.
