Unisciti a noi per un momento di silenzio per il nostro compagno Oleksandr Chopyk “Uruz”, che ha dato la vita per l’Ucraina, per la libertà e per tutti noi. Per sempre nei nostri cuori.
Please join us in moment of silence for our dear friend, steadfast comrade and simply an incredibly bright-spirited person, Oleksandr Chopyk, callsign ‘Uruz’ (rune).
The loss of Sashko is irreparable for us. His candle of life shone brightly for many. Sashko loved Ukraine, his native Lviv, and his comrades – he was a true friend and a valiant warrior. He used to joke that a shovel is a soldier’s main weapon, yet at the same time he worked on many interesting projects using complicated tech.
Sashko loved people and loved conversation. He brought our unit into this community and became our window into a slightly different world, where our lives are reflected in photographs and videos on screens. He wanted to tell our story and about our struggle – a struggle of extraordinary importance, for the lives of millions of people.
And perhaps that is why he held his position despite being wounded, offering kind words, and sometimes a joke, to those who were in safety.
Sashko was always first to come to the aid of a comrade, and always the last to leave the position. It happened that way this time as well. He knew that enemy forces were advancing, but he did not retreat.
He died for all of us.

You all might know Sashko as Uruz, as he was a Redditor who very much enjoyed speaking with members of this community. He so much appreciated the support that you have given our unit, and so we would like to share more about the real Oleksandr with you.
