      >The 2026 budget will go to a plenary vote in the National Assembly on Nov. 4, after which it must pass the French Senate. Most political groups are backing an increased digital tax — albeit with differing proposals on how big the increase should be.

      >“This measure clearly shows that we don’t have to wait for Europe,” said Éric Coquerel, a left-wing MP who heads up the finance committee. Fellow lawmaker from the right-wing Republicans, Corentin Le Fur, echoed: “We need to act decisively.”

Lecornu has found a way to let left and right parties agree on something, apparently.

Those aren’t just American tech giants, they’re this World’s tech giants. Taxing them more will result in increasing prices for people and making giants even bigger giants, while box-moving money in your bureaucratic accounting framework will still be growing more and more inefficient. Why don’t you ever tax your socialistic scheme?

Chances of rest of Europe taxing tech giants, or helping France face US retaliations, are at 0,000%

Good, keep ratcheting it up more. And while you’re at it, use the funds to incentivize European firms, incubators, and EU sponsored venture capital. Create the alternatives rather than just accepting the crappy status quo. You have a huge population, a pot of money from this taxation and you’re not even utilizing it in a way that will make life better for everyone but most of all everyday Europeans.

They stubbornly refuse to tax the rich (but keep talking about how “*every* citizen must make efforts”).

So if at least they find the balls to tax the foreign rich, y’know
