14 years of malaise, mismanagement, and othering has caused the old to be scared of faces at the market and the young to want to leave.
Reform creeps in where disillusionment spreads. Thanks Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, and Sunak. Thanks to the right wing press that got everything it wanted – austerity, Brexit, Johnson, and Truss’s budget – and it now thinks Farage is the answer. And a big thank you to the British public who in some ways have never had it so good and yet it isn’t enough to make them happy and content as social media constantly feeds them a doom loop.

Eerily similar to a lot of why people voted for Trump.

I’ve often seen people on here wonder why areas with little immigration are so concerned about immigration politically. Presumably it is simply because they would like it to continue having as little immigration as possible.

They are happy with how their town is and don’t want it to change. Its their right to vote for what they want, that’s why we have democracy.

Friendly reminder that Reform’s goal is to strip workers rights from everybody in the U.K., under the pretence that the ECHR and Equality Act have anything to do with immigration (they don’t).
Don’t get so riled up about brown people, that you sign your life away to the rich 1%.

People in areas with little immigration can see how the likes of Birmingham have went and want no part of that.

Fear of becoming like other towns in the wider area I suppose.

some of you lot should apply for the scouts the way you are tying themselves in knots to act like this is a preventative vote.
everyone interviewed is talking about the NHS (parroting online RW talking points) and no clothes shops and one guy is being overtly bigoted, admitting he doesn’t like non white faces but is assuming they are migrants. The NHS and vape shops aren’t entirely located in Buxton Derbyshire. You’ve been called out and you don’t like it.
Regards, someone who apparently lives in one of your Sharia No-Go areas but is surrounded by white working class people.

A lot of rural communities lean conservative tbh so I’m not sure it should be seen as a surprise they jumped Reform.
But even with disillusionment with the mainstream (which is the driver of support of other parties like the Greens and Reform), Reform don’t have the answers. They will use those issues as excuses to weaken workers rights and remove us from the ECHR.

I’m confused, they turned down investment from the University of Derby which would see young people with money coming into their town and spending money? And they’re complaining about lack of investment?
