Crazy to see how far D.J. Carey has fallen. Once one of hurling’s biggest legends, now guilty of multiple deception charges for pretending he had cancer to get money.

It’s hard not to wonder if years of being idolised played a part. When you’re treated like royalty in your county free pints, constant praise, never told “no” it’s easy to start believing the normal rules don’t apply. Add massive post-career debts and a community that trusted him implicitly, and it’s a recipe for disaster.

Sad end for a player who gave so much on the field, but a reminder that fame and hero worship can warp judgment and that no one, no matter how loved, is above the law.

He used that fame and talent to scam people. He deserves a lengthy prison sentence just like garlic man and many other people who defrauded businesses, companies and people of their money fraudulently received .

Looking at the thumbnail I thought it was Benjamin Netanyahu.

Is he going to try to put those fraud charges up his nose?

It’s not the first time he’s been charged, but there’s nothing up his nose this time.
