Despite her landslide win and the US’ strong ties with Ireland, there was little in way of congratulations from the White House or Donald Trump.

Whereas Trump was quick to congratulate his Argentine counterpart, Javier Milei, on his “landslide victory,” and congratulated Takaichi Sanae on winning the race to become the leader of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party, he has kept silent about Connolly’s win.

    2. It is a ceremonial role. The real leader is the Prime Minister(Taoiseach) Michéal Martin.

I’m sure Catherine is sitting crying about not getting a mention from the mango Mussolini……. ***Checks notes***

      Nope.

good, we don’t need US approval in Europe. Because we don’t respect their fascist ways.

Good. Delighted. Keep them freaks far away from us

      >Conor McGregor

Who, to be clear, didn’t have enough support to run in the election even before being found guilty of rape

    7. mybighairyarse on

If that drugged up cunt MacGregor appears in the white house next St. Patricks day, I actually give up…..

The absolute worst person in the world from Ireland. An absolute fucking eejit…..

So Trump favours a violent, misogynistic, lying, drug taking psychopath and America thinks he’s fit to lead their country 🤦 FFS the people who voted for Trump truly are a dumb as bricks.

Why should you award any decent human (and a woman, at that) a polite amount of attention when your #1 foreign policy goal is to have kleptocratic neo-fascists traitors rise everywhere

That Khabib didn’t in fact end McGregor’s career when to all intents and purposes it looked visibly (and emphatically) like he’d ended his career is so disappointing.

Why does America think we give a shit? Lmao. That’s how you know americans are long beyond saving if they think this is remotely relevant on a democratic vote

bc duh trump aligns with another colossal douchebag, it’s their whole identity

    13. Ballistic-Bob on

The fact that Trump and the whole White House were Publicly backing Connor says it all really. Christian values….? ,cheating, violent, drug abusing raper .

The Americans have a long history of supporting cunts in Ireland. It does not surprise me one bit.

    15. Double_Chicken_8769 on

That’s okay. I look forward to her speaking truth to power. That said, Ireland pharmaceutical industry is in Trump’s cross hairs. I hope she has a plan.

    16. Meanwhile, all around Europe we are voting for our own Trump parties because immigrants scary.

Digging our own graves, we are.

    17. Probably glad she doesn’t have to meet him and act pleasant.

    18. Tough-Promotion-5144 on

This doesn’t vibe well with the narrative she’s a putin puppet. Shouldn’t trump love her?

    19. whooo_me on

Obligatory pedantry: McGregor didn’t drop out of the Presidential race. He couldn’t meet the criteria to run (needs to be nominated by 4 local authorities, or 20 TDs/senators).

All that aside, I don’t think an educated, leftist, egalitarian, climate-change activist, female barrister is exactly Trump’s *type*; so I’d be more surprised if he had congratulated her.

    20. JBCaper51 on

She is a strong woman. So naturally Trump and his gang are afraid of her. They revert to their lack of character and class.

    21. MrGiant69 on

That is a badly written headline. It sounds like McGregor backed her and the WH snubbed her as a result.

    22. Content_Log1708 on

The Irish don’t need the attention from the likes of Trump. The Irish stand proud of their new President.

    23. TheBatmanIRL on

He can’t really congratulate her as then it would become evident to the MAGA crowd that he backed another candidate that didn’t win.

    24. BioDriver on

I’d consider being snubbed by our rapist in chief to be a good thing

    25. Terran57 on

They could have paid her no greater honor than a snub from trump.
