This is amazing! Unexpected, considering how bad things looked.
Bur now there’s other matters to fight on the digital front. Like mandatory age verification and dumb obscenity laws.

This great news…but how long will it take before someone else tries again to push for this kind of laws?

I’ve been so angry and embarrassed with my government for spear heading this, and they keep framing this as a hit for online child safety. I’m sorry that we had to fight this in the first place, but thanks to everyone who did!

Danke schön, Deutschland. Seems it was their reversal that was the final straws here, as well as one of the three Danish government parties getting cold feet.
We’ll probably see more proposals like this in the future though. The battle is won, but the war is not over.
Wasn’t it reported here the other day that a worse version was drafted? I remembe reading something like Chat Control on steroids

Great news! Just remember: the next Presidency goes to Cyprus who also support chat control. And after them it`s Ireland, which are discussing a domestic version of Chat Control for domestic use.

Have to stay vigilant folks, I don’t think anything is won. Kicked the can down the road…
We know a few countries support this. Unfortunately, mine is one, apparently – I never really got good responses from my MEPs.
