Oh my… So Farage in first place and anti-NATO leftists in second
I know you guys don’t like France but this France 2.0 with Le Pen and Melenchon.
Hopefully the LibDems gain some steam before 2029.

Kind of wild the upside down reality UK politics is going through. Spain had a similar moment post 2008. If that translates in the slightest to this case both reform and greens are likely to fall short from these polls. Still remarkable to see such shake up in a country traditionally ruled by two parties.

British people voting for Reform UK apparently dont know or dont care they just keep voting for the same populists who deserted the scene when it was about to actually proceed the Brexit for real in 2016 ?…

This is insane. Labour will not call an early election under any circumstances.
Sure voices will demand it but it’s not like the Tories will be able/want to put up any meaningful pressure for an early election either.
The lack of institutional power basically ensures no elections till they’re required in 2029 (which is a lifetime in politics).

I refuse to believe that the Greens are in second place. Reform UK are doing very well out of the collapse of the Tories, frustration over immigration, and Farage is getting a lot of attention, so I can see why they’re topping the polls. There seems to be a bit of a Green surge, but I doubt they’ve overtaken Labour, the Tories, and the Lib Dems. The Greens have always been written off as single issue or loony lefties, and I can’t say that’s totally unwarranted.

Only 15 points behind reform. Whatever happens, it looks like there’s going to be change. Just not the kind of change some are hoping for. Fuck knows what Reform have to do to lose support, they’ve been a car crash so far.

Starmer is at least partly responsible for this. Reform UK already had a large following comprising of your typical right wing Brexit gammons and the Tommy Robinson brigade, but their support has grown significantly because of Labour’s stupid domestic policies. I think they underestimate just how many people there are in the UK that will protest vote out of spite for having their quality of life stripped away both online and irl. Every other week they annoy a new group of people with one of their genius ideas.
I’d never vote for Reform, but if Labour don’t repeal acts such as the OSA and mandatory digital ID scheme, they will get battered in the next GE. Reform’s far right old guard are not enough to do it on their own, but with the backing of disillusioned centrists they will get Farage into number 10. Thankfully, there are still a few years left for Labour to redeem themselves or for another party (not the Tories) to step up and meet the challenge of Reform.

Pretty meaningless to go with voting % imho.
32% doesn’t always translate into seats. It can do, but if that 32% is from 2nd in every seat, that means 0 seats.

The last time the conservative party was not one of the two largest parties was over 200 years ago. For Labour it was in 1918. Turely historical times.

Zzz… show me a poll this day 3 years from now. Polls this far out are “I’m going to show my dissatisfaction”, polls close to an election are “ok this is getting serious now.” In Ireland every midterm poll in the last cycle basically had Sinn Fein cruising to lead a government. They came 3rd in vote share.
Of course the wildcard here is that if the UK fractured anything like this, first past the post will make it a random numbers game in terms of who actually gets what in seats.

What the hell is going on in the UK? Like, Starmer won a huge majority in just July of 2024. Both conservative and labour governments enforce some weird law where citizens can be fined or imprisoned for memes and “offensive content”? Like this looks bad for both major parties, not good for civil society. I don’t get that part, even though I am not a “free speech absolutist”
