      Spite and all that….

I would have thought Scots/Ulster-Scots would have been the natural choice. Why aren’t I hearing more about that?

    2. Their ENTIRE existence is to try and piss off the other side.

Like how does this make sense in any capacity?

But since themmuns are overwhelmingly pro-Palestine and they also want road signs on the island of Ireland to include the Irish language, this will be a great way of getting back at them!!!

Sad bitter people. I hope their kids see a brighter future.

    4. So they refuse to give proper respect to the Irish language and yet give signs to a language spoken by so few

Settler colonialists identifying with fellow settler colonialists. It must be exhausting when your entire “culture” revolves around hate and fear.

I’ve read the whole article – it’s not a serious proposal but silly (anti-Irish language) sabre rattling with a heavy dose of ragebait which apparently people are falling for.

      The third paragraph reads:

      >While 1,000 attempts have been made for the city’s streets to have dual English and Irish signage, at least two suggestions have been made for signs in English and Hebrew

      shortly followed by

      >Apart from Irish, Ulster Scots and Hebrew there have been requests for signage in German, Polish, Chinese and Japanese among the 1,300 applications received so far.

So **TWO** of the **one thousand +** of applications are for Hebrew, other languages have been suggested as well. Don’t get played.

I said it during the Brexit negotiations, and it remains true.

Loyalists would rather sink the entirety of Northern Ireland into the sea, than allow nationalists to get a “win”.

Even down to something ridiculous as putting a foreign language nobody speaks on their road signs instead of a native one.

They would absolutely cut their nose off to spite their face, and gloat while they’re doing it.

Maybe they could let the Israelis move into their homes lol, leave the Palestinians out of it.

Would be lovely to see a new generation of ‘settlers’ made feel welcome there.

They could do with having clearer road signs in English, never mind Irish or a random language

Imagine being backwards and hateful because you’re a loyalist.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Israel downgraded Arabic as an official language in Israel.

Loyalists and Zionists, cut from the same spiteful cloth.

There’s contrarism and there’s cuntrarism . They’ll fight tooth and nail to block any use of the Irish language on Irish soil, but holy fuck they’re gone full zionist and want to plaster Hebrew signs in the same fecking places, while also being entirely racist to anyone with different color skin. Make it make sense.

Aliens could also land in my back garden tonight… They won’t, but they could!

    15. This isn’t related at all but I really dislike using all capital letters for English language on the road signs. It makes it look like everyone is shouting and it’s harder to read at high speed and greater distances (our brains recognise the shape of the word first; Belfast has a more distinct shape than BELFAST which is just a rectangle).

    16. If you’re familiar with British Israelism, then none of this should be a surprise.
