“There are no plans to make legislative changes,” a Downing Street spokesman is quoted as saying.

“The Government is committed to using parliamentary time to improve the lives of working people.”

This, to me, seems like the sensible decision as the probability of Andrew ever being King is practically non-existent. It would take an extreme and unfortunate series of events for this outcome to come to fruition. At that stage, I suspect that would mean the end of monarchy anyway.

He’s 8th in line, I highly doubt we are going to have a ‘white ship’ disaster in 2025, where Charles, William, Williams kids, Harry and Harrys kid all die at the exact same time.

In the insane event that happened Parliament would just refuse to accept him, as it stands it requires getting all the other commonwealth countries who have the royal family as a monarch to all agree, and it actually took a hell of negotiation to change the gender rules and marrying catholic rules..

I know it’s highly highly unlikely that Andrew is going to be King, but it is strange that he is no longer deserving of the title “Prince”, but is somehow deserving to be in line of the title “King”

as he’s toppling fast out of the top 10, why not go for a positive headline and just do it? It’s unlikely to ever come into effect anyway, so who cares?

    5. I’m pretty sure that Andrew knows how much he is despised by everyone in the country, that if tragic events were to take place leaving him facing the crown, I’m almost certain he would pass it over to Beatrice

It’d be the cherry on top to have this nonce as our King, genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if it ever did happen

    7. There are more important things to use Parliamentary time on than something that would be a gesture.

And in the incredibly unlikely event that something happens to everyone ahead of him then the option is still there at that point. Saying no now doesn’t mean it can’t be done ever.

When the government removed primogeniture they needed the permission of 13 other countries to change the order of succession as the royal family aren’t just our royal family. The same is true now for Andrew.

    9. What a farce. Succession and royalty (“highness”) are medieval concepts. Belief in such things is not what makes a modern democracy.

A waste of time and I think we’d all be quite happy to abolish the monarchy if the king, his children, and all of his grandchildren all suddenly died, especially considering I’m pretty sure they all travel separately anyway.
