This is a scandal that people should be going to prison for.
Edit: Downvotes? If any public servant lost your child you’d be calling for people to be prosecuted, but apparently kids that come into our care it is fine to lose them. Jfc.
Generally most of these are 17 year olds on the cusp of turning 18 or age disputed children (the home office thinks they have lied about being under 18)
For example in July 2023 there were 154 missing UASC. 100 had already turned 18 and 25 were likely over 18 when they claimed asylum. Leaving 29 that are actually minors.
Albanians are over represented, because they were recruited specifically to work in drug gangs usually in the north of Albania.
You’re not allowed to imprison them, you can’t stop a 17 year old from leaving their accommodation.

Probably one of many reasons why relying on hotels was a bad idea. In Brighton, where many went missing, millions were handed to a convicted criminal who called himself “Adolf.” You’d think that alone would’ve raised a few questions about the Home Office carrying out proper checks.
