There was this channel 4 documentary when I was a kid where politicians volunteered to live on benefits for a short time and I will never forget the old guy having a melt down in the park outside the block they put him in.
Make these people live the life. Nige went to one of the poshest schools in the country and even the headmaster thought he was a posh cunt. He wouldn’t last a week.
The more hate and division he sows, the higher his approval ratings. What is going on with British voters?

This is the sort of stuff people should be taking seriously, not his rhetoric about Johnny Foreigner.
This is why Farage is fronting a political party that is promising to pull us out of conventions that protect human rights. It’s not to be cruel to immigrants, it’s to give the billionaire class the opportunity to reduce workers’ rights and restrict pay and benefits.
He said either lower minimum wage for young people looking for their first job, or raise NI threshold, to encourage employers to hire them.
The worst part is knowing that a big part of his base audience is made up of people barely above min wage or on some form of benefits and they’ll be agreeing that yes the people not them are earning too much because when they were kids they didn’t earn that much and turned out fine. They’re walking straight into the leopards teeth.
People are already struggling. Reducing peoples wages would lower tax revenue and increase welfare. Stupid idea
That’s because he’s so disconnected from reality, by his own choosing, that he doesn’t know how normal people live.
He’s nothing but a slimy grifter,who’s only looking for the next scam. He’s the MP for Clacton on sea and hasn’t even attempted to address any of their local issues. So how people can honestly think he could run a country, I really can’t understand.
OK, then. Here’s a suggestion. For three months, Farage should agree to give up access to his bank accounts, salaries and donations etc and agree to get by on minimum wage. See what it’s really like instead of talking nonsense.
Soon change his tune after that.

They don’t earn to much but they are certainly taxed too little. Low to middle earners pay hardly anything, and it’s a huge burden on our tax base.

My problem is we need to sit down and arrange diplomacy with both sides, bring the far right and the far left together to bring them into the left and right. Politics is a metronome, it swings either way, if we can sit down as adults and offer up places to talk and listen to either side perhaps we can align ourselves against a bigger monster. Stop buying those pitchforks and start the next steps forward, together. Of Gimli and Legolas can put aside our differences and fight as friends then so can we.
Young people don’t even get minimum wage. This is deluded bollox! You don’t get paid minimum wage until you’re 25 thanks to these bullshit wage tiers in the UK, yet you don’t get any money off council tax, rent or anything. I decided to leave the UK because of this in my early 20s because I had to borrow money to get by even though I was working up to 60 hours a week.
I think all politicians completely ignore and underestimate just how devastating this policy is, especially when you chase a promotion only to still not get minimum wage when you get it… Then you lose motivation to even try too hard to prove yourself because you know you’re only going to get more hours for shite pay.
How are you going to ever stimulate the economy when you’re allowing people to get ripped off so badly? They won’t contribute tax because they don’t earn enough. They won’t want to seek to prove themselves because there is no reward for it. Take it from me, I left the UK because there was no opportunity for me or any young person except working to the bone to be broke, stressed, unhealthy with zero time/energy for my personal life.
And don’t get me started on fucking apprenticeships… Slave labour for pennies that no one can afford to do anymore. Young people are not afraid to work hard, but don’t lie to the fucking country by saying they’re paid too much.

If rents and bills were discounted according to age, then I would agree with him. Unfortunately, if you are young then you face the same overheads as anyone else.

The article is much more tame than the headline suggest, but hey reform, here, some inspiration for the next headline: Don’t you also think young people live in way too spaceous apartments? :^)
He knows that minimum wage has risen significantly (as it should) in the last 5 years and that it’s closed the gap with people who have degrees and work in their field but are stuck on ~£30K because private companies are exploiting workers.
He’s going for those people hoping he can stir up anger and get them to join him.
He’s hit critical mass with his typical group and now needs to stir up others.
Not entirely wrong but nobody will want to hear it understandably.
It has put a depression on hiring younger people as there’s no longer an incentive.
There might be a reasonable point here, as much as I detest the guy. Minimum wage has been rising faster than median wage, leading to wage compression.
Ultimately the only thing that leads to real wage growth are productivity improvements. Find out how to enhance productivity, wages will rise. It’s not an easy task. Tackling NIMBYism and investing in electricity infrastructure are two great places to start.
I don’t like the guy but he’s right. Those young people should get off their arses and go make speeches to Trump fans in the US for 30 grand a pop or go on Question Time a couple of times a month and make daft statements. The very least the Workshy youth should do is get some back channel money from Putin or even run for parliament; that money is basically free, you don’t even have to meet constituents. If they’re not even going to be born into a rich family and attend a public school, they deserve all they get.

Yeah they earn so much that they can’t even move out of their parents till their mid 20’s in some cases 30 years old. Seriously things cost so much these days and pricks like Farage just want to make things so much worse for young people and the working class.
I’m still surprised about the Ageism and disparity of payment due to age.
Seems completely unfair to expect people to work the same or at times more (due to being young and pushed to do the worse tasks) and nobody to this day complains or changes it.

I don’t understand why we give him this much free publicity, he’s a raging narcissist that dispises ordinary working people. He openly shills for Russia, and doesn’t even hide it. When will people wake up and say, he has nothing useful to offer anyone.
People seem to forget that this man voted to remove his own salary with Brexit. Why would you vote to be poorer? Is it A) because you can because you were an investment banker or B) because you get some secondary benefit other people won’t. I suspect it’s likely more B than A.
