Disgusting. The people who put them up should pay or take them down themselves.

Paterson said in his view this campaign was started by “far right agitators” set on causing “division and intimidation” in the diverse community of Medway.
“I think at this stage the world is divided into people who know exactly why these flags were put up and those who are still pretending they don’t know why they were put up.”
Man hits nail squarely on head.

It would do when you send 5 people and 2 vans.
BTW only one person and a bucket van is needed to change a street light bulb

I feel like I could’ve done it for half the money, but the downside is no backhanders (corruption money) from me to the council members.

The real story is why it costs £11k to take down some flags

Just let this jingoism run its course. I understand the point of taking issue with the flag, but if that’s Patterson’s view, it would be better to spend the money tackling the core issue..
Removing the flag isn’t going to help and will likely antagonise those people.

They do understand that they will be going straight back up again right? The point of doing this wasn’t just so somebody can say they put up a flag that one time….

£11,000…. So what is that then? The equivalent of income tax avoided by a single illegal worker over the course of a couple of years? The flags are not the problem.

If the flagshaggers put as much time into a day job as they do flying the flag, our economy would be doing a lot better as well as not costing councils money.
Just sayin’…

Jingoism – the new Reddit overused word, used out of context, on any post relating to the ‘far right’.

Could we all just agree that zip tying a cheap made in China rag bought off of Temu to a lamp post and leaving it there to get filthy and tattered, until it falls down and ends up stuck in a tree is pretty disrespectful to the national flag, as is painting a badly out of proportion caricature of it on a roundabout and leaving it to wear and fade? I mean, they look shit.
I mean, I think they’re tossers for plenty of other reasons. Not least because we’re not North Korea, and don’t need a flag every ten feet to remind us what country we’re in. But that one annoys me too.

In my northern English town, we had a few flags go up at the train station and at a little tesco, they were then taken down and now around the train station we have Welsh flags up ???? It makes no sense unless either the flaggers are really that dumb (which I don’t believe) or we are being secretly invaded by Wales…

Should have asked me… I’d remove them all for £10,999… Before reselling ‘part used flags’ on ebay and waiting to be rehired to take them down again!
When there is a flag war, sell flags!

It does beg the question how they find the time in a working week to shag these flags. Has to be middle of the night so surely they’re able to find time in the day to also work (wouldn’t work on just a couple hour’s sleep)…or are living off of benefits.

Local Facebook groups are going nuts. Medway seems to be ready for reform, despite fact in Kent they are taking flags down in place of Christmas lights but that’s ok as reform are doing it.
