Un altro lancio riuscito di Ariane 6 dallo spazioporto europeo questa settimana. Alla fine lancerà in orbita IRIS, il sostituto europeo della costellazione Starlink statunitense. Ariane-6 è in grado di dispiegarsi in batch (50-70 satelliti per lancio)

      Did they successfully land and re-use it, or are we still living in the 1990’s?

      Pathetic boomer managers at Arianespace that literally laughed away reuseability.

      It’s a pathetic idea to try to compete with starlink with a €100-million expendable rocket. This is a dumb headline, trying to make it sound like some kind of ‘win’? This is pathetic.

      Surely IRIS is Europe ‘competitor’ to Starlink, not replacement. Infact, it’s not even a competitor because it’ll be focussed on government service provision, not consumer facing, at least at first. Not to mention that it’ll cost probably 10x as much to deploy because of inefficient launch systems.

      Spanish company PLD Space also plans to start launching their Miura 5 rocket from same space port next year (cross fingers). They must be building their base now.
