If he’s going to have an opinion, he should at least be informed on the topic.

Most of Irish America are unfortunately MAGA crazed nuts – he’s not wrong on us freeloading on defense and neglecting that area though

    3. A quick read on Wikipedia reveals that this guy attended university in apartheid South Africa and converted to Mormonism in his youth.

Despite his name he’s massively out of step with Irish-Americans, let alone the Irish.

Seems on brand that a Trump ally would be a malignant idiot; at least the last Americocentric piece on Connolly acknowledged she had no legislative power, this feels like a hit job for its own sake, to pitch Ireland as an antagonist force.

      Well, he’s not wrong.

Specifically, he is right about US tech firms being vulnerable as we have no effective defence.

He is also right that we criticise Israel but say nothing about China – why is no-one marching on their embassy after Tienamen Square, the ethnic cleansing of Tibet, the locking up of dissidents, the lack of democracy etc? The left (of which I am very much a part) in this country have always had a blind spot when it comes to China and Russia.

Good thing about Opinion Pieces is that if you don’t like it don’t read it

The freeloading and lack of investment in DEFENCE does need to end though. The attitude towards this topic here is dangerous. Why so many people think investing in a well rounded, reliable and modern defence force means we will be sent off on offensive missions around the world is beyond me. A strong defence force only boosts our neutrality

He is right about our defence spending. He is wrong on pretty much everything else. There is no doubt that Isreal have committed genocide. American companies are here because it is profitable and a good place to do business from.

I love the bit about the “so called” military industrial complex. Coming from a man whose country has a healthcare system where citizens are left to die because spending $1 trillion a year on the military is more important.

He might as well just of written ‘Ireland- suck up to Israel and buy our weapons’

15 or 20 years ago I would have found this kind of thing really worrisome. But in todays day and age, that of the 24hr news cycle, I find it largely meaninglessness. The disassembly of trust in traditional media by Trump and his cohorts means that this is just a flash in the pan that nobody will talk about in 5 mins. Yes it’s terrible what people think about is blah blah.. bit it will have no impact to anyone or anything.

Who cares what Mr.silly what’s his face thinks, he’s irrelevant and so are his terrible opinions.
