“Created in 2018 to commemorate the centenary of Poland’s independence, the design was planted in the Pomorskie province near the village of Lipusz, in an area that was struck by the so-called “hurricane of the century” in August 2017. […]

Designed as a forest planting project, **the background of the eagle emblem consists of roughly 67,000 pine trees, while the eagle itself is formed from about 23,000 birches. The claws and crown are made up of approximately 400 larches, chosen deliberately for their golden autumn color.**

Around 3,000 people took part in planting the trees, including scouts, local residents and municipal officials from the region, at the Lipusz Forest District state forest office. […]
