Well, this disgrace of a prime minister we have is a slave owned by the separatists, this is not news.
So stupid to add more languages to EU. Put the Catalans in school and teach them Spanish instead, how hard can it be?
With how difficult it is for the EU to reach a consensus, there’s not really much appetite within the union for accommodating separatist/independence movements.
If I had to guess, this is intended more as an indirect goodwill gesture by Spain toward Portugal by presenting itself as “tolerant of language differences”, in a bid to further integrate the Iberian peninsula so the region is more competitive and politically relevant vis a vis France – Germany – Italy.
This is literally being advocated by Spaniards, btw.
Anything to divert attention from his corruption.
If Europe has 24 official languages then Catalan especially would seem to have a pretty strong case to be within such an expansive group.
If Andorra ever joins the EU I assume it would be added then anyway.
