Rail transport company Italo is considering entering the German high-speed market, according to the German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung,” citing sources familiar with the matter. According to leaks, the plans call for an investment of billions of euros for 30-40 high-speed trains.
Italo is reportedly evaluating hourly or bi-hourly connections within Germany and intends to create around a thousand new jobs. When asked about the matter by “FAZ,” Italo spokespeople declined to comment, but it appears that a new wholly owned subsidiary of Italo has already been established in Germany, and that all permits were applied for in October.

I tried Italo few times and had a great experience: comfortable trains, affordable prices, easy refund process. I hope that athe ging German infrastructure won’t stop the expansion, but should finally get proper investment instead

Doesn’t matter. There’s not enough space available on the tracks

I hope that they will spend some of the money on making German trains run on time. I had a chance to experience German railways couple weeks ago and when on time, they run great… but in my case, they were not on time most of the time 🙁
