It was already time for Germany’s far-left populist parties to weaken, as they only produced false promises, chaos, and division.

    2. Impressive-Tip-1689 on

First of all, BSW is not a hard-left party. They are hard populist and a crude mix of contradictory positions taken from all political.movements.

Secondly, never forget that Politico is part of Axel Springer.

The only thing she is hard for is her love and submission to Putin.

      SYL

      One less Russian puppet.

Unfortunately, there are still far too many left.

      >”Hard left”

      >Looks inside: pro Putin puppet

This is just another attempt by the media to associate the far-left with authoritarianism.

“Hard-left Icon”. And the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is in fact a democratic republic because that’s what their name says /s

    7. Better PR than actual results. This icon didnt win a single election for her parties.

    8. budapestersalat on

Hard-left would be inaccurate, this party is quite an example of horseshoe theory…

    9. Square-Blacksmith988 on

      „Icon“ ???? Really. More like „weirdo“.

    10. One-Reflection-4826 on

“hard-left”. more like populist/putinist wherever the wind blows (the money).

    11. One-Reflection-4826 on

as left as the national socialists are socialist.

She seems like quite the interesting character. I hope she changes her mind about growing closer ties with Putin though.

    13. She has always fucked up every position of leadership and responsibility so far. She’s a great orator, populist and TV personality. She’s a terrible leader and organiser. It doesn’t surprise me she wants to get rid of the responsibility of running a party as soon as she can, so she can go back to spewing Moscow-sponsored bullshit on TV.

    14. Hard left icon lmao

Hard left? Hard no. Icon? Lol no.

She’s just a populist egomaniac and wannabe Putin puppet

    15. Reditor723 on

hard-left “icon” totally no bias oozing from that diction

    16. araujoms on

Is the party still going to be named after her? I find these personal parties so ridiculous, don’t they have any ideology beyond what dear leader says?

    17. sonnygreen42 on

Finally the Party can vanish into irrelevance where they belong

    18. halls_of_valhalla on

Can someone calculate how much screen time this Putin appeaser had on German TV the last year? Who the fuck kept inviting her.

    19. L1b3rtyPr1m3 on

This party literally only exists to prove the horseshoe theory. It has no other justification to exist and demonstrably sources funds from the same donor as the German extreme right party, namely the Kremlin and Kremlin adjacent donors or businesses under Russian state control.

Calling Wagenknecht or her party “hard-left” tells me, if nothing else, that the author didn’t bother to google their stances on virtually anything for more than a minute. The article only corroborates that.
I wouldn’t recommend clicking on the link either. Politico may be fine as a medium, generally speaking, but both my adblocker and my scriptblocker flagged the website for invasive tracking and potentially malicious ads. It seems like they’re going overboard with both even by the standards of online news outlets. Ignoring the warning led me to a nearly unusable website because the scriptblocker had had to remove too much.

She didn’t have enough votes to get her party into the Bundestag.
She probably wants to do it with a new party.

    22. EverythingsFugged on

Eh she never was really relevant. Media made her relevant by inviting her almost a LOT more than usual, probably because she had connections due to her famous husband.

Now she realised that her fake relevance she bought through her connections and the dumbass populistic propaganda didn’t help her win a flower pot, and now she’s throwing a tantrum, leaving her party and all.

The party that has her fucking name in their name. I’d call that pretty self centered and almost narcissistic.

      How the mighty have fallen.

    23. From the article

BSW, a party that merges elements of hard-left and hard-right politics — an ideology Wagenknecht has dubbed “left conservativism”

Are they mixing socialists and nationalists again?

    24. Kalinko2018 on

For the Non-Germans: Wagenknecht is a brilliant speaker who used to be from a traditionally left political party. After months of speculation and public shaming from leftists, she founded the BSW which was actually named after her and now got renamed. There is A LOT of critique against the way she thinks, speaks, dresses, planned her party’s progress and so on. Sometimes because of good reasons, sometimes because… because.

However, I follow commentators of various political ideologies and next to the hate of the left side there was fear from the right once this new party was projected to quite well in the elections of 2025. In the end it was even declared that the BSW got most votes from people who usually vote for the AfD (right wing party). Plus, there were a few weird coincidences after a recount was ordered in some communes and cities. In those recounting results, they learned that they lost votes to another party with a similar name and due to the scarce result they got in order to enter the parliament, they are still trying to get an offical recount for all cities. But, that might actually lead to a total reconstruction of the parliament, also threatening the big coalition that governs Germany right now.

In the end, she said that she is consumed by too many adiminstrative tasks instead of speaking in public and do political work. Many of her haters see this as a proof that she wants the fame but they forget that she was always a public figure, not a desk mouse.
