Good, useless third rate politicians who needlessly interfered with policing. Setting pointless local priorities which were usually based on their own egos rather than combatting crime.

Good decision. The old police authorities were much better.

2024 PCC elections turnout:
Turnout (measured as valid votes as a proportion of the electorate) averaged 23.2% across the 35 PCC elections for which we able to collect electorate data. Turnout was on average higher in the English PCC elections (24%) compared to those in Wales (17%).
We did get some campaign leaflets when the elections were, only two of the candidates bothered to reply when I asked some policy questions from them. Since the election, I haven’t seen any news of what they have achieved.
I haven’t seen any real impact assessment of their usefulness either. I don’t think anyone except the politicians selected to the position will lose anything.

These were only made a thing to get more Tories into elected positions, good riddance.

No issue with this. Never liked the American model of institutions being headed up by elected officials – quickly becomes a party political thing. Our elected representatives and the government are there to hold these institutions to account, while letting them get on with the job they’re supposed to do.

Good. Was always going to be a white elephant. Policing should not be made political like in the US! Hardly anyone ever voted in the elections anyway. An utter waste of money and resources.

They’ve cost hundreds of thousands each every year and delivered nothing tangible. It wasn’t just their wages, they needed offices, support staff, equipment etc. All just wasted money.

Good. They’re basically useless. Anyhow, police management should be politically independent. There’s enough political interference from Westminster as it is.

Thank god.
Having a someone in charge of the police force’s priorities, who was also aligned to a political party, was so stupid. The police should be apolitical – always.
