We R Blighty, the controversial firm that raises funds for homeless military veterans, has been convicted a second time for its “shameless” illegal cash collections.
The company and its two directors were fined a total of £3,640 at City of London Magistrates’ Court last week, in the run up to Remembrance Day.
Founder Ben Mills and his partner Danielle Vidler pleaded guilty to multiple instances of appealing for donations without a licence on high streets in the Square Mile earlier this year.
The news emerged just days after The i Paper revealed that the Charities Aid Foundation had to increase security at its offices following an alleged threatening phone call from Mills, who says the claim is “inaccurate”.

Hello – London City Worker here – they were literally out the front of London Bridge again this morning. Their new method is to produce a magazine which you pay for – rather than a strict “donation”. Either way it’s complete bollocks and I hate seeing poor vulnerable people bullied into donating by them each day.

I saw we ban all street collecting, street performers and cold calling.
Anyone caught has to spend a week in custody regardless.

These people are in the same league as disqual drivers. They don’t care. They’ll do it again on the very same day they get released from prison.
They’ll keep doing the same shit day in and day out all the time they’re making money from it. Business accounts need to be frozen and the untaxed bullshit profits given to charities dealing with ex-military personnel. HMRC needs to ask a few Qs too.
This country needs to address at school level, how to recognise scammers and hustlers. Children need to be told that if it’s too good to be true, it’s easy money or you have to donate quickly that they are being robbed.
