Under Trump and Marco Rubio U.S. no longer follows international law even as it was understood under the first Trump Administration, the “law” they follow is closer to Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte because they’ve gone full dictator/banana republic mode.

When the US is acting like a terrorist organisation and destroying fishing boats on the premise of stopping drug trafficking in international waters then it is every countries right to challenge them.
The US border control could have tracked them until they entered US waters and arrested everyone on board, seized their cargo, and showed it as evidence. They could then have detained them or deported them, as far as I know the US doesn’t issue death sentences for drug smugglers.
However the US authorities have not issued one shred of evidence to support their intelligence’ and they have already declared their interest in enforcing a regime change linked with Oil reserves.
This has zero to do with stopping drug smuggling and everything to do with Trump being the head of a terrorist organisation.
However, the EU (And frankly any nation and anyone) has the right to address their own responses to the US breaking international law, such as the UK ceasing intelligence sharing in respect of attacking boats off the coast of South American nations. The US is going to do what it wants, there’s no one with the will or ability to stop them over most matters, but it’s losing the good will and support of its friends.
The US had the arrogance to criticise the UK for hiring a UK company to build a nucelear power station (It’s not a full power station but I forget the term that is truly accurate). I mean, just fuck off, just become the insular nation that you promised you were going to be.
At least it will hasten, slightly, the break from the odious US influence.

International Law exists for all nations just because America chooses not to abide by it does not make it right that is why we have bodies like the UN, WHO & ICC. There are countries rising like Syria, Venezuela, Serbia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger & Vietnam and if the EU expects to hold these countries to our standards than the rule-based order should apply to all countries that means if one power decides to invade or regime change a country they should face the consequences and justice be applied for war crimes committed.
