Prevention and willingness to help and still respect these people is infinitly more effective than punishment. This does not in any way justify any bad action by them! But it helps rather than pushing them into the scum of communities where governments have little control over what happenes there.
I know it’s incredibly hard to not wanting to get these people executed. Incredibly hard 🙁 Please don’t ask.
At the end of the day, what makes a person a monster is their actions, not their emotions. It’s great that they can get help to fight their demons and hopefully have a chance to live a life without hurting anyone.
I’d love to see this for psychopaths/sociopaths etc. but probably way harder to convince them to get help.
It’s crazy to see such wisdom coming from a government. That’d be impossible in most countries in the world, even in the West. If you treat people as monsters, they will perpetually act as such.
It’s a difficult but important step. prevention and early intervention can protect countless children.
