“This is a moral mission for me because I can see that illegal migration is tearing our country apart,” she says.

“It is dividing communities, people can see huge pressure in their communities and they can also see a system that is broken and where people are able to flout the rules, abuse the system and get away with it.

“I am not willing to stand by a pretend there isn’t a problem, when I know there is one, and then suggest that any solution to that cannot work because I believe they can.”

It’s a step in the right direction.

What needs to change is the Blairite way we conceptualise immigration as purely a numbers game.

We need a dynamic imm system that also recognises the threshold at which cultural cohesion is more likely to be breached.

That means ‘weather forecasting’ or constant evaluation
so we don’t end up in a storm as we can modify our approach flexibly.

I wish there was more investment into integrating immigrants who are already here. If they aren’t given a simple path to assimilation they will just spend time with other immigrants from the same country and we will basically have an island of strangers.

Illegal migration is a massive problem. However the huge levels of legal migration is an issue too. Without the investment to support services or to integrate immigrants properly its going to continue to destroy the country.

Actually, Immigration debates are weaponised as a distraction. Right-wing operatives have become remarkably effective at flooding social and mainstream media with immigration narratives, pulling attention away from a more fundamental issue: the ongoing transfer of wealth from working and middle-class people to a small elite—many of whom own or heavily influence the very media platforms driving these conversations.

It’s a clever sleight of hand. While people argue over borders, they’re not discussing stagnant wages, eroding benefits, union-busting, tax structures that favour the wealthy, or how housing and healthcare costs keep rising while real purchasing power declines. The immigration debate becomes the stage, while wealth consolidation happens backstage.

If you really think that illegal immigration is reason why quality life in this country is getting worse, then I have some beans to sell you.

      Simple rules
Can’t speak or understand English? You are out
Have a violent crime past? You are out
You bring no work ethic? You are out

We need to stop pandering to those who have destroyed our way of life and to make matters worse the ones who can’t speak or understand English, have assaulted our women/children and have no jobs so we the taxpayers have basically paid for the destruction of our home..throughout the government any person who isn’t British by both parents needs to be removed from positions of power because it’s very telling how we are the only country that puts other nationalites in position of power in our country and since doing so immigration and crime has sky rocketed.

This will be more tough talk and then watered down to nothing by the Labour backbenchers.

We are supposed to believe that 1.5% of the population is tearing us apart ? Labour need to stop pandering to the anti immigrant rhetoric and focus

Oh, they are doing that thing again. You know, the thing where they make bombastic statements that seem to echo the prevailing public sentiment .. while doing nothing or doing everything they can to further exasperate the problem. Then increase taxes on working people for the privilege.

Well when u let sexual criminals in left right and center what you expect it’s only going to get worse and keep costing more stop the benefits they will stop coming

    11. Dapper_Big_783 on

This problem started from the Blair days … it’s a problem created by Labour

“Illegal migration is ‘tearing our country apart’ and system is broken, so let me make legal immigration harder!”

Labour’s mission to Reform-ify themselves would be funny if it wasn’t terrifying and handing power right into Reform’s hands. On the one hand, thank God I got my settled status sorted before all this mess, on the other, even with that status I feel less and less welcome here

Yeah great, fix immigration so we can get back to being destroyed by the wealthy elite instead that rip all the money out of the country and stuff it into their own pockets and leave us with nothing. Can’t wait. Immigration is clearly the problem. Mmm.

    14. Yes it’s tearing the country apart but not because of facts and more so because it is used as a distraction from the rising inequality of wealth in this country.

It wasn’t Illegal immigrants arriving by dinghy that told Labour to scrap their plans for a Wealth Tax, that was a US billionaire arriving by private jet—Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, met with Rachel Reeves just prior to Labour scrapping their plans for a wealth tax and fixing their sights on the disabled.
But tell me again that is immigrants that are the problem….
Billionaires, and the politicians they’ve got in their pockets, are tearing the country apart, but blaming it on illegal immigration because they know the racists will jump on that bandwagon. We’re being sold wholesale to foreign billionaires, while the likes of Nine-Jobs Nigel & Tel Aviv Tommy tell us it’s illegal immigrants destroying the country.
      Wake tf up, people.

    16. SuperMindcircus on

Just drive the narrative but don’t do anything about it. That’s a solid strategy…

While you have a prime minister who’s made a career taking our goverment to high court to protect immigrants/refugees.

A prime minister who has a career defending terrorists, high ranking terrorists.

      Dont expect any change.
