Trump looks in dreadful health. I’m not sure he’ll survive a 5 year court case. Let him sue and play the long game.

Trump is the type of character that once you pay him he will treat you like he owns you and will keep coming back for more. He has zero chance of winning this in the UK as it was too long ago, and his arguments in the US are very weak because it was never aired in the US.

Probably worried about his £82,000 annual BBC pension.

It’s a shake down and he thinks because it’s worked in the past, he can just carry on.
Thing is, Paramount caved as there was not an insignificant risk to their skydance merger.
ABC settled for $1m (+$15m to the presidential library). Essentially go away money, cheap enough to avoid the hassle.
The thing is, with the BBC, there’s no business deal being threatened, no reason to not let it (an incredibly weak claim) go to trial. In fact, I’d argue that the BBC has a moral duty to defend this action.
