Why doesn’t she urge her Superbet boss brother to plug €135bn gap for Ukraine? And also ask Spotify, since they seem to have enough money to invest in Israeli army tech.

Maybe, just maybe, the EU should stop throwing our funds outside Europe and to think more “Europe First”. Every eurocent spent outside Europe is an eurocent less for Ukraine.

Edit: I meant outside Europe: Ukraine *is’ Europe.

We are throwing our money and resources in area such the Middle east. Time to stop that and think to our continent.

Ukraine can nationalise Onlyfans, that’s 8 billion dollars. #fapforukraine.

They do what they want with our money. It’s crazy.

    5. thinkingtitan on

Will this money then be used to buy weapons from Europe enriching the pockets of weapon manufacturers who in turn will do their best to evade taxes on this wealth?

The anti Ukraine propaganda is out in force in these comments watch out for the ruskis guys n gals.

Edit: All the anti Ukraine posts are by people who hide their profile just take a look.

Give them all the need and more. Ukraine defends all of us and their soldiers are dying so we can live in peace.

If only the West and first and foremost Europe would have stepped up in the beginning, the war could have either been over or have Ukraine be in a much more favorable position, with much less loss and lower costs. It’s crazy how slow everything moved in the beginning and how we have been drip feeding Ukraine for three years, instead of being fully committed since the beginning.

There was so much momentum for Ukraine that’s been lost and now it’s stuck in a money draining stalemate along a 1000 km frontline, that they can’t win from Russia with a lower population and western allies unwilling to send their soldiers as long as the fighting continues.

All the redlines put up by Ukraine’s allies about tanks, long range missiles, jets, etc proved unnecessary, as they were all delivered in the end. Costly and deadly delays that have been in no one’s favor but the Russians. We better hope Europe learned some important lessons from this war, but I fear not.

    9. AmazingSibylle on

It is easy, just make a long term assessment of what it would cost Europe if Russia were to succeed. Those costs are much much much higher and go beyond money alone.

    10. vou_discordar on

How about no? All of EU is already talking about increasing military spending. Hell, no! We need peace and prosperity, and that money could be used for public health, education, housing, etc. Stop being sleazy and sit down both parties. This should have been the first decision on the day of the invasion, not send weapons. Also, I’m tired of these unelected politicians making decisions.

Brussels bureaucrats can start by donating their salaries and taking a pay-cut.

Europe give already more than it should

      this is no sense

How about using frozen Russian assets to pay for this?

Or is Belgium too afraid of losing the investments of all the Belgian companies who still do business in Russia?

    14. Oh, that’s entirely covered by liquidated Russian assets from Belgium alone. Let’s use that.

    15. Any-Original-6113 on

Of course, Russian assets should be seized – there are no other options to consider.
Otherwise, why did Ukraine have to fight for three years? They could have surrendered right away.

    16. DramaticSimple4315 on

There is a concert of anti-EU populist agit-prop and pro-russian defeatism in here

    17. wolflance1 on

Well someone will have to foot the bill eventually.

But no, the money is better spent strengthen Europe’s own military, than burn it away in Ukraine.

Both deter Russia, but one actually has a guaranteed return, another just a massive gamble. If Ukraine fail, and it almost certainly will with how grim things are looking right now, those billions of Euro will go down the toilet.

And Russia will much prefer to bully a Europe without those 130 billions worth of military, than one that has invested billions to strengthen its defense.

This is such an obvious no-brainer that even your average everyman with no intricate geopolitical knowledge can easily grasp the pros and cons. Yet somehow, Europe just keep blind-spotting it—because European leaderships are so captured by an ideology that is EXTREMELY removed from reality.

    18. epSos-DE on

The EU proposed a massive defense spending.

The Ukrainians are currently innovating how to do defense on a minimal budget.

What if the EU takes the Ukrainian lessons and makes defence cheaper !!!

    19. Dennisthefirst on

Then she needs to sort out Belgium, Hungary and Slovakia quickly

    20. SheriffHarryBawls on

Zelensky and his entourage do need to acquire more prime real estate.

    21. Mixed_not_swirled on

Just seize the russian assets. Tell people as long as they don’t launch a genocidal invasion on european countries their cash will be fine.

    22. That’s like 0.7% of the GDP of the EU. Less of a third of the bare minimun we should be spending on defense to deter…check notes…ruzzia. I call it a bargain

    23. MrKorakis on

€135bn can be covered with laughable ease by issuing common debt backed by all for the common good that is to help Ukraine win. The EU is a €20tn GDP this is less than 1% of the collective GDP.

    24. Truffely on

It’s funny how Germany has no money for its own people but fdl raising 135billlons for weapons for a war that the USA and Russia started…

She’s very generous with other people’s money.
