Make no mistake, Russia is the enemy. Always has been. But we have also learned the hard way (in the 1930s and 40s) not to trust our allies, and that the Western powers will sell us out to the enemy whenever it is convenient for them (be it Nazis, Soviets, or whoever in the future).

The US is a country that acts in its own interests, which are sometimes in direct conflict with ours. They often act like total jerks, so I’m not a fan of the US.
But I consider Russia a direct threat to most of Europe, and the closer the country is to Russia, the greater the threat, so if I have to choose sides, then it’s the US 100%.
I would prefer it if the European part of NATO were strong enough to deter Russia, so that we wouldn’t have to worry about US policy depending on who happens to be in the White House. Unfortunately, we are very far from that.

I’d say it’s pretty spot on.
While talking to folks around, I noticed that we as Czechs usually view Russia as a threat, unless you’re talking to a brainwashed idiot who thinks Russia is a heaven on Earth who provides for all.
But we also tend to view USA as a rotten country ran by clowns that’s on the brink of its own demise. In my opinion, this pessimistic approach stems from the idealization of America that came in the 90’s with American music, Hollywood movies and the laid-back cool lifestyle that was viewed as American. I think that Czechs who never flew over the big puddle to see for themselves thought that all of America looks like it does in the movies. I think some still do. But when you compare the idealistic countries with lovable families like the Griswalds or the McCallisters with a country decimated by fentanyl, absolutely unsure about what’s going on in their underpants and letting people rob stores, just because of the fact that in the past, we as humans used to use other humans as slaves for their labour… Well, you do feel a certain reality hit.
Also when it comes to military power, I think Czechs act in their own interests. We do view Russia as an enemy and, except for people who fell for propaganda, we publicly support Ukraine in this conflict. If the USA would firmly join our side, we would hardly protest. After all, the USA means big guns. But I also think Czechs would do anything not to have the fights happen in our country. Also, I feel like people also fear the Russians response. IF they have working nukes, just one could damage our state in ways that would be potentially irreparable.
That’s the think that irks me personally. IF they do have the firepower they claim to have and would aim their wrath at our little place in the heart of Europe, we could easily be either turned to dust or speaking Russian in no time. But that’s a big IF, in my opinion.
Because the war in Ukraine has been going on for a long time (I mean compare those two countries, it’s like a bear fighting a mouse and not winning after so many years), corruption in both states is rooted in their systems and there’s been a shitload of propaganda around lately, I’ve come to believe that Russia probably has no working nukes at all, most of their equipment has either been stolen and sold privately, or made by corrupted companies the cheapest way possible and young Russians aren’t falling for the propaganda either and are doing anything they can to escape Russia, the once mighty, now backwards country that it probably really is.
They’ve been using North Korean soldiers, North Korean guns and grenades, their tech is outdated and I personally think Russia is probably going to lose this.
I think China would have to intervene in order to save Russia, but since China is practically USA’s Industrial Disctrict and there’s too much money involved, I think China might just sit this one out, wait for how it turns out and if there’s a chance to grab some extra land if Russia falls, they won’t think twice.
If the USA decides to join NATO in a full scale war against Russia, I believe there’s a good chance that Putin might “Do The Adolf” and off himself undergound somewhere. I think most sensible Czechs would see that as a great win.
There’s also the brainwashed’s (we call them “Desolates”, as in, desolate of thought) idea of how things are, how Russia is just holding back, because the power it holds is too big, they act in love and they’re practically begging us to see the truth and look through the lies the Western propaganda is serving us. They believe that if we continue to publicly support Ukraine, Russians will have no other choice to obliterate us all, before continuing on towards the rest of Europe and finally, America. Probably. Honestly, it’s kinda hard to get the story straight from Desolates, as they tend to waste an enormous time to insult you, so there’s precious little space to actually convey information.
Take that as you will

You know USA threathens us with McDonalds, KFCs , iPhones, Googles, Facebooks, OpenAIs, New medicine, AI, Electronic cars and other “evil” products of “poor west capitalism” while conservative Russia offers us their glorious drunken steppe culture based on hundreds of years of self-delusion and constant need of somebody (Outer enemy) on who they can blame their “superior” standards meanwhile they mafia ringleaders build themselves fucking chatteaus.
Lets not forget that Russia offers a chance of “special” operations, you can take part or be operated. The best country – who wouldnt want to live with them or be their neighbour. Looking at you “NovoRuzzia” I mean Ukraine. .

At least in my circles we hate Russia a lot more than America, or anyone else really. This doesn’t change across generations.
We, along with all the other countries your post mentioned, understand that peace in Europe and the existence of Russia are mutually exclusive.
We’re not as uncritically pro-US as Poland (especially with that orange turd in the Oval Office), but we definitely hate Russia A LOT more.
