I may be cynical about this but with no funding it seems like France is just trying to secure a large defence contract.
Why wouldn’t they be “prepared” to put billions of other peoples money through their weapons industry to support an ally.
France can’t fund it as they have a huge deficit. They also failed to raise the retirement age to alleviate the problem.
