    1. In modern times, I guess the only difference between a king and a figurehead president such as in Germany is that royal titles are hereditary?

It’s curious that the Vatican City is designated as a monarchy. The Pope is not formally the king of the Vatican State, although he effectively has the powers usually enjoyed by monarchs.

People, better start working putting monarch in power again (ceremonially)

Hot take: Orban and Putin are more kings than Frederik, Felipe and Charles.

Russia and Belarus are also monarchies and republics only in their name.

Fun fact: Andorra doesn’t have one but two heads of state: the two co-princess but they aren’t even from Andorra. Instead, their heads of state are the president of France and the bishop of Urgell in Spain, meaning that their head of state is elected by the people of a foreign nation. That’s quite unique and no, the pope (head of state of Vatican City) is technically not elected by foreigners since cardinals hold citizenship of the Vatican.

Still too much red in there, come on people it’s the 21st century, you don’t have to let your daddy issues make some inbred dorks very rich for no reason.

Honestly, some countries should think about restoring monarchies. France, Romania, Hungary, Serbia and so on could do well with a neutral head of state, considering the problems some of those countries has been having in recent times.

I once saw this map with the colors switched. That showed the color of blood of heads of state.

But dictatorial republics are also included as far as I can see…

The vatican does not have a herreditary head of state. It is thus a republic and not a monarchy.

Andorra’s not a monarchy. It’s literally in the name.

I think Monarchs having power on paper is a thing that needs to change. Sure, it is fine now when they are not choosing to use that power but it’s not good having that option there for someone to abuse if they wish

they forgot to make ruzzia red because pootin is indeed a monarch
