Today’s news regarding Canada and European nations has me in a great mood today.
Look, im not a naive Canadian who hopes that we’ll somehow be able to join the EU. But it certainly makes me happy to see us fostering stronger ties and hopefully distancing our dependence on the USA.
I really hope from ESA and CSA we will start to see the beginnings of a well funded international space agency. It makes sense to centralize collaboration and pool funding, because everything space agencies can do is for common benefit of all mankind.
Due to america’s status as the economic superpower for the past century and drawing of the most brilliant minds from all over the world, NASA has been the main driver of human space exploration. Since Trump is now actually gutting them so badly that half of their stuff has to be shutdown, others have to pick up the slack or we will again turn inward as a species for the foreseeable future. It’s bleak.
