“Cuore pulsante dell’Europa”: il primo ministro belga vuole fare del Benelux un unico paese. Belgio e Paesi Bassi torneranno ad essere un unico paese e potrebbero aggiungere il Lussemburgo al mix? Il primo ministro belga lo ha più volte suggerito e il ministro-presidente fiammingo è d’accordo

Europe’s internal borders disappeared because they were imaginary lines dividing the same people. So every step toward further unification is a good step. And it’s inevitable.

In my view the best of all worlds is a Europe of Regions. Big competences like security and defence to the European level and the local competences down to the regions. European federalism is the way.

Belgium has trouble holding itself politically. How is it supposed to be held together with Netherlands and Luxembourg? And why would Luxembourg join when it benefits from being a microstate company escape

    4. And what does that mean for the condition of the roads in Belgium and the Netherlands?

Many Dutch people wouldn’t want this and I imagine an even bigger % of Belgians wouldn’t want this either.

Its the only way they’ll win the world cup. Who knows this could spur on other nations joining forces, world peace brought to you by football.

Honest curiosity: given the today state of things, with Benelux and EU granting for decades basically almost total freedom between these countries, what would actually be the differences in declaring one single country compared to what they have now? Especially if we don’t consider stuff like changing the kings and queens or bureaucracy.

“THEN WHY DID YOU GUYS ASK FOR INDIPENDENCE??”~The Dutch probably

Could anyone familiar with the three countries describe some main differences and similarities between them, and if there’s any broad consensus on which country is “best managed”?

So, within a couple of days, we heard proposal for a revival of the Italian protectorate in Albania and for 1815 Netherlands. Weird timeline

I don’t see this happening. For 1 what benefit does this offer that isn’t already present by being in the EU? 2 Belgium is a basket case of a country. They have far too many governing bodies and they can never agree on anything. Why would The Netherlands want to invite that into their political system, that currently works quite well. 3 Luxembourg is extremely wealthy due to being small and in charge of their own affairs. (So they can be a tax haven.) Why would they give that up, by joining a larger country when they already enjoy all the benefits with none of the downsides?

Imagine there are 5 regions on the new country and to form a government one would need a majority in each region. This would be fun.

The best beer in Europe imo. Would love to have them as one country 😀 It will never happen tho.

I have no opinions as to whether or not this should or should not happen. I just think it would be interesting to see.

      The questions are:

      A. Of the three monarchies, which one do they stay with? Or will Benelux be a Confederation of Monarchies with a Republican president?

      B. To avoid religious and linguistic tensions. Will the Confederal Republic of Benekux have English as its official language and will it be secular?
