


Non esattamente una traduzione, ma qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi a decifrare i nomi delle due città evidenziati in questi atti di matrimonio americani? Una assomiglia a Janah o Jania, e l’altra assomiglia a Chomsk, ma non riesco a trovare città con nomi sufficientemente simili nella regione della Boemia per esserne sicuro. Grazie in anticipo!!

The “John Zeman” one could be Jemnice.
These are old certificates from the days of Austro-Hungarian empire – so it possible you will not find those places today on a map – those could be old german names of the places.
Look here its list of old german names of places and their modern name today.

Could be Chlomek and Jesenice
Issue in those cases usually is the person who wrote the names = usually we have to decipher english transcription of what that person heard.
sk can be sh = š/ř in czech, j can be ž etc.
Chomsk can be even something like Chlumec (or Chlomek/Chloumek or even Chotěboř 🙂 )
